The earliest pontoon owners figured out along the way that, with their space and stability, pontoons make excellent fishing platforms. So its no surprise that some pontoon builders started building fishing-specific boats. Perhaps no pontoon is fishier than the new Premier 241 Cast A Way. Take a look at the arrangement at the bow. Instead of the opposing couches of traditional toons, Premier built two matching high-back executive chairs in corners of the bow to serve as the most comfortable fishing chairs around. Each corner features a molded-in cup holder, a stereo speaker and a flip-up rod holder, covering all your bases whether the bite is on or off. A vertical rod rack for three fishing rods hides behind the port seat. The fishiest feature on the boat, though, is the Captains Station on the transom. It is a molded fiberglass component with a recirculating livewell in the center, lockable tackle drawers with slots for three trays to either side, stand-up rod holders, cup holders and space to mount a fish finder. Two high-back deluxe fishing chairs flank the captains platform. The center section of the boat offers pure pontoon relaxation, with a J-shaped lounge to port of the helm with flip-out cushions that hide roto-molded seat bases with tons of stowage. Our test model featured a cream and charcoal vinyl. A pull-out privacy curtain sits behind the lounge. Dont forget the swim platform off the transom. The elevated Spincaster helm has a flush-mounted Humminbird 386ci color fish finder, and the lockable rod holder behind the captains chair holds four 8-foot rods. A 40-gallon livewell resides at the front of the helm console in addition to a freshwater sink and paper towel holder. But dont forget about the ride: With the 150hp Yamaha FourStroke outboard, the 241 Cast A Way passed easily above 30 mph while climbing onto plane in 2.2 seconds. The boat handled well underway and, more importantly, provided a completely stable fishing platform at rest.
