Ah yes why are we selling our motorhome? We previously had a 2009 Dutch Star, purchased used in 2012 that we used for two years. We sold it, thinking that we were through traveling. But, three years later, we decided to get another used coach, but none were available that met our needs, so we purchased a new one. Now, 6-years down the line, I am getting on in age (81 years old). Life is a series of transitions and compromises ah well And why did we select Newmar as the manufacturer? My wife and I did an extensive amount of research on motorhomes before we purchased our second Dutch Star. We looked at three up-scale motorhome manufacturers in our price bracket:1.Tiffin2.Newmar3.Entegra Our previous motorhome, a 2009 Newmar Dutch Star, was traded in by its previous owner to a Tiffin dealer for a new 2012 Allegro Bus. During our purchase process of this Dutch Star at the Tiffin dealer, I accidentally ran into the previous owner of the Dutch Star. He was bringing in his new Allegro Bus for service. He was having numerous problems with his new Tiffin (the dealer told him that he might have to drive his new Allegro Bus to the manufacturer in Red Bay Alabama to have the problems fixed!) He also said that he had had very little go wrong with the Dutch Star that we purchased. I was afraid that he would want it back! At any rate, Tiffin motorhomes seemed to have a reputation of needing more service than Newmar motorhomes. The Entegra looked really good to us (sexy paint jobs, etc.) We visited the local Entegra AND Newmar dealerships. However, when we stepped into a new Dutch Star, the high-quality Newmar interior workmanship cinched the deal! We again found the superior Newmar reputation to be true. We have had very few problems with this coach. Newmar is Amish-owned and most (80%?) of the employees are either Amish or Mennonite. Nice folks! The only noticeable difference between the 4362 and the 4369 is the VERY LARGE compartment in the back of the 4362. We have installed some wire racks in this compartment, used for storage. If the new owner doesnt want these racks, they can be removed in about 37 seconds and replaced with the original rods for hanging clothes. Important: Recreational Vehicle interiors are small to start with, which is why we wanted a light, bright and cheery interior dark colors make the interior look like a cave! This coach has a light Carmel Glazed Cherry wood interior. The floorplan for this unit can be seen in the photos. The forward right-hand slideout shows the LED TV on Power Lift, also called the Televator. The single largest after-market upgrades that we made to this coach are the solar panels, Lithium-Ion batteries and inverter-chargers:Solar Panels: (16) 200-Watt, 12-volt Solar PanelsBatteries: (6) 300 Amp-Hour 12-volt Lithium-Ion BatteriesInverter Chargers: (2) Two 3,000 Watt, 12V Inverter/Chargers, Hybrid with Load Support This solar system was purchased and installed by Solar Energy Systems, located in Nappanee, Indiana, about three miles from the Newmar factory. Solar Energy Systems is the premier, number one RV solar system supplier and installer in the U.S. They also supply solar systems directly to Newmar who offers them as optional upgrades. This system cost us just over $36,000. We love this solar energy system it was great for dry camping at festivals and various events, 1-night stops in parking lots, etc.! We almost never had to run our generator when dry camping! Oh yes, my sister and her husband do their camping in a tear drop trailer. When I sent her some photos of our motorhome, she said that she didnt consider that we were really camping. I replied that she was correct, we were NOT camping, we were LIVING THE DREAM! What about the ease of driving this motorhome? WOW, the motorhome proved very easy to drive (thank you Newmar Comfort Drive Steering). Ask my wife who does most of the driving! To prove this point, we have enclosed a photo of my wifes 99-year-old Aunt Betty behind the wheel of our coach! Oh, wait a minute I guess she never really drove the coach, nonetheless Oh yes, the TPMS. We had two wakeup calls about this, long before our motorhome days 1.While towing a travel trailer, an 18-wheeler drove next to us and pointed to our trailer. One of the tires had a blowout and disintegrated and we didnt know it.2.We owned a diesel truck with dual back tires for our 5th wheel. While checking the air pressure in the tires, I discovered that one of the back dual tires was completely flat we had no idea. This Newmar Custom Upgrade that allows persons sitting at the Dining Room/Office table to have a 270-degree view of the outdoors!Camco 30-foot 50-amp extension cord with 50-amp-to-30-amp and 30-amp-to-15-amp adaptersMany other items that we deem necessary for motorhome use Ah yes the dining table chairs that came with the motorhome were uncomfortable and difficult to keep clean. These two roll-around chairs are a HUGE improvement! FLAT TOWED Our opinion on towing a car: You do NOT want to tow a car on a 2-wheel or 4-wheel trailer! What do you do with the trailer when you get to camp? And yet, very few cars with automatic transmissions can be towed with all four wheels on the ground, and the list is getting shorter every year. But wait, you CAN install an after-market modification kit to any automatic transmission car so that it can be towed with the drive train disengaged. However, two INSTALLERS of this system that I talked to BOTH recommend against it!
