After almost 20 years of RVing we are now ending our RV chapter and preparing to pass it on to the next owner to enjoy its comforts and adventures. Our last adventure was a 7 week 4900 mile circle through the National Parks and Monuments in NM, CO, SD, WY, MT, ID, UT, and AZ. The coach performed flawlessly in this adventure as well as all of our prior adventures. We found the floor plan to be optimal with comfortable seating directly across from a big screen high-definition TV. The entire coach has very ample storage from the kitchen to the spacious bays underneath. The coach has been washed and waxed regularly, and we are non-smokers. It was last washed and waxed in October 2023 and an anti-UV finish was applied to the fiberglass roof. As with most RV owners, we desired some personal after-market upgrades that include: Centramatic wheel balancersSafe-T-Plus steering stabilizer Koni shocks front/rear Timbren springs front/rear Sleep Number RV King with separately adjustable sides Thomas Payne theater seating with massage, heat and LCD lighting SAMSUNG 4K UHD 50-Inch Class AU8000 HDTV MagneShades windshield, driver, passenger, wipers Upgrade front AC heat-pump to 15K Tire Pressure Monitor System with repeaterUpgrade WiFi to Spruce/Denali for best short and long range wifi coverageMicro-Air Wi-Fi Thermostat Dashcam Garmin 7 Street Pilot 7200 GPS Oxygenics shower wand Upgrade shower door rollers These upgrades cost over $15,000 and make the coach significantly safer, easier to drive, and more comfortable for travel as well as everyday living. The chassis and AC work were professionally done. All engine/chassis service has been performed on schedule by a local Ford Truck center dealer. We have not had any significant issues with the coach and no issues what so ever with the engine or chassis. We have had two issues with cosmetic aspects of the furniture. You may be aware that Flexsteel provided much of the RV furniture to many RV manufacturers and they had an issue with their coverings. Flexsteel is out of business but Newmars Warranty covered this issue and Newmar provided replacement covers for the driver and passenger seats, and the dinette. We have just started seeing the noted wear on the driver and passenger seats but the dinette and recliner still look fine. The replacement covers will be supplied with the coach for installed if/when desired. The Thomas Payne theater seating had a similar issue (out of warranty) that I addressed with quality leather headrest pieces made to address the issue. The Thomas Payne theater seating provides exceptional comfort with recline, massage, and heat. For extra ambiance it includes under-seat lighting to complement the built-in Accent Lighting throughout the coach provided by Newmar. We replaced the standard Visio main TV with a 4K UHD Samsung SmartTV with built-in Netflix and other streaming services. The coach still has a large Visio HDTV above the windshield (viewable from the dinette) and two smaller ones in the bedroom and in the External Entertainment center, which also houses a radio with Bluetooth support so you can listen to your favorite music from your phone. The King Size Sleep Number bed is also a major upgrade. It provides separately adjustable firmness on each side of the bed. Its perfect for anyone with arthritis or just plain muscle aches and pains. When I test drove the coach I was not pleased with the factory steering and ride. I quickly discovered that many Canyon Star owners install the Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer and either Sumo or Timbren springs in the place of the standard Ford bump-stops. I did both of these upgrades and chose Timbren over Sumo because those springs had greater capacity. I immediately noticed much improved steering with no wander and very much reduced impact while being passed by semi-trucks. Tar strips and potholes were reduced in jarring and became almost simply noise. We traveled to lakes and beaches in Central and South Texas where it gets very hot and the factory ACs had a difficult time in 100F temperatures. We solved that problem with two upgrades, swapping the 13.5K BTU front AC for a 15K unit, and having MagneShades custom made for the windshield and driver/passenger windows. After trying inexpensive sunshades inside the front window, I discovered it is most important to keep the heat out of the coach. The sunshade needs to be on the outside. The MagneShades made up to 10F difference and eased the load on the AC. We had the dealer install the Whirlpool washer/dryer combo and we found it to be very convenient. Unfortunately, it was not installed properly. There is no room for a dryer exhaust hose and what they installed was crushed and ripped apart. I replaced it with a proper metal periscope vent made for use in tight spaces. We made several other improvements to factory supplied equipment, including a much better Wi-Fi enabled thermostat, Oxygenics shower head for better pressure, upgraded rollers on the glass shower doors to avoid jamming from rough roads, improved cabinet latches, and more. Many spare parts are included in a drawer in the bedroom. The 7K generator runs great and has only about 129 hours on it. The oil and filter were changed twice, the last time being at 100 hours. Spare spark plugs and fuel filters are in the spare parts drawer. Tools for changing the filter are in a bay. The satellite dish is switch selectable for DirecTV or DISH. It is currently set to DISH. There is no satellite receiver currently installed.
