4x4 Diesel Camper Van

Price:
$100,000
Summary:
Used 1998
Location:
San Diego, CA
Description:

For sale is my customized 1998 Ford E350 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel 4×4 Ambulance, with only 107k miles on it. Approximately two years ago various upgrades were applied to the vehicle when it had 95k miles, and hundreds of photos and video tours are available upon request. The most notable upgrade is the Ujoint Offroad 4×4 conversion, a well-respected company for E series 4×4 swaps. I chose to perform the 4×4 conversion using their DIY kit, which required replacing almost every component under the frame. The following modifications were made:6” lift with 35” tires2004 F350 axles (Dana 60 front, Sterling 10.5 rear) entirely rebuilt with new 4.10 gears, bearings, seals, u-joints, ball joints, slotted and drilled rotors, calipers, OX locker in the rear, everything but the housings are new, and the gears were professionally set up.Warn locking hubsCustom spec Atlas leaf springs for the weight of the vehicle (10,500# with half tanks of diesel and water)Fox 2.0 shocks valved for big heavy vansCustom Tom Woods front and rear drive shaftsReman NV271 transfer case4R100 transmission rebuild and modified to accept transfer case35×12.5r17 Toyo MT on a nice set of alloys with the proper offsetA whole bunch of brackets, brake lines, hardware, and fabrication to install it allAdditionally, the roof has been raised using 2×2 aluminum tubing and 1/8 thick aluminum sheet, and removed and patched several light holes to prevent leaks and achieve a cleaner look. I also created an aluminum winch bumper, which houses a 12k winch with synthetic line, an aluminum roof rack over the cab, and a high clearance rear bumper (steel). The paint is a combination of the factory white and a primer that I found which matches very closely. The new owner will need to wire the LED lighting on the exterior. The vehicle is powered by a 7.3 engine, known for its exceptional reliability, and with only 107k miles, it’s in great condition. The entire suspension and drivetrain are practically new, and the transmission has been rebuilt, so significant maintenance isn’t likely to be needed anytime soon. I achieved an average of 13-14 mpg over a 6000-mile loop from MN to AZ and back last winter, with a lot of off-roading.The interior is fully insulated with 2” ridged foam insulation and has both a wood stove and a diesel heater. The cabinetry is baltic birch finished in lacquer. The galley has 6’2” of headroom, and the bed is 56×79, making it perfect for tall people. The dinette table can seat three adults and converts into a bed that sleeps two in less than 30 seconds. The vehicle has plenty of storage and everything a single person or a couple could need for full-time travel, even in very cold climates. Here are some specs:Cubic mini wood stove7kw diesel heater which draws from main 33gal diesel tank(continuous heat for literally like a month)Nordcold 12v compressor fridgeTwo burner propane stove topMaxxfanDeep stainless sing with surflow pump, 30gal fresh/15gal grey both inside the box so they don’t freezeLED lightingInsulated blackout window covers1500w pure sine inverter300ah AGM house battery300w of renogy solar panelsThis unique rig boasts a variety of amenities that make it comfortable, capable, and reliable for full-time living. Additionally, there are several 110v outlets throughout provide additional comfort and convenience. The rig is priced at $60k, which is a fair price considering the extensive modifications and build costs. I have invested $40-50k and over a year of skilled labor has gone into the vehicle. If the same work were to be outsourced to a 4×4 company, a metal fabricator, and a van builder/cabinet maker, the cost would quickly exceed $100k. Comparable vehicles, such as Sportsmobiles, Earthroamers, and Revel 4×4 Sprinters, are priced much higher. This one-of-a-kind rig offers a rare balance of interior space, comfort, off-road capability, day-to-day drivability, cool factor, and value.
